What Makes Vida Nostra Different?

In 2023, our company Boombalotta was started for the sole purpose of developing the world’s most realistic online simulation of mafia life.

We were tired of trying sim after sim only to find that none of them created a truly lifelike simulation of life in the mob.  Our dream was to create the first true roleplay sim that brings you as close to the real thing as possible

Realism.  That’s the goal with Vida Nostra.  We wanted to create the feel of being a wiseguy.  

Limited Numbers.  When we set out to design the web’s best mob sim, we quickly realized that the single biggest factor that made other games unrealistic was the number of players.  You simply can’t achieve the genuine feel of mob life when there are millions of wiseguys in the sim.  That’s why each instance of Vida Nostra will be strictly limited to 2,500 participants.  The majority of these will be associates or wannabes.  Five families will each have a boss, ten captains, and 100 soldiers.  The books are closed as long as those 111 positions are filled within the family.

Jail time. One of the realities of mafia life is the chance of getting pinched and doing time.  In Vida Nostra, a player who gets pinched must serve out his sentence — able to have minimal communication with the outside world, but unable to conduct any real business.  He may get early release through good behavior or by cooperating with the government, in which case he’ll be forced to secretly wear a wire in order to gather evidence against his friends.

Money. Understanding that money is what makes the underworld go round, Vida Nostra provides real-life incentives to move up. New participants pay monthly dues of $11.99 to play.  All wannabes and associates pay this subscription fee.  If the player gets “made” and becomes a soldier in one of the five families, he no longer pays.  From that point on, his subscription to Vida Nostra is “on the cuff.”  Should a player be so successful as to become a caporegime, he starts to get paid every month — real world money sent directly to his real world bank account!
