What is Vida Nostra?
Have you ever participated in online mafia roleplay simulations? If you’re a mob aficionado, you probably have. And you’ve probably been disappointed with them. At Vida Nostra, our goal is to create a truly realistic simulation of life in organized crime.
How is Vida Nostra different?
Most mob simulations suffer from the same design flaws:
Too many participants
Typical online mafia games love to brag about having millions of active participants. This is a dead giveaway that the game is an unrealistic mess. Imagine New York having 2 or 3 million mobsters! This could never happen in the real world, and it won’t happen in Vida Nostra. Although multiple instances of Vida Nostra may be active at any given time, each instance is strictly limited to 2,500 participants. Of these, only about 500 are “made guys.” The rest are associates or wannabes. These 2,500 operate in a virtual city full of citizens, businesses, police and politicians — each one a potential score!
Lack of realism
The usual mafia game is full of unrealistic content, including ridiculous weapons, health meters, super vitamins, and worst of all unlimited lives. In Vida Nostra, wiseguys must survive in a world where the value of your life is no more than the value of your latest score. Wannabes and associates must prove themselves good earners in order to have a chance at becoming “made.” There are no fantasy weapons or silly health potions. Vida Nostra is a gritty portrayal of underworld survival, including jail stints, prison terms, and death. Get yourself whacked in Vida Nostra and it’s final. No do-overs. As our slogan says, it’s not just a game, it’s a life. And you only get one.
Lack of motivation
No matter how fun a mafia sim may be, if there isn’t a real-life motivation behind it, it’ll get boring eventually. At Vida Nostra, we recognize that a realistic mob life simulation MUST include the same motivation that drives mafia activity in the real world. Money.
Wannabes and associates pay a monthly subscription fee of $12.99. But if you’re successful and loyal enough to get “straightened out” and become a made member of a family, the monthly fee goes away. From that point forward, it’s on the cuff. Made guys don’t pay to play. Better yet, rise to the rank of captain and you start actually making money — real cash deposited to your bank account on a monthly basis. Depending on their success and the amount of respect they maintain, monthly payouts for captains ranges from $50 to $200 a month! And it gets even better if you become the boss of a family. Bosses make between $500 and $2000 a month, based on their simulated earnings and respect level.

Vida Nostra is now in the late stages of the design phase, and will soon transition into development.
